KYBURZ wins the "Parcel and Postal Technology International Award 2023"
KYBURZ separates the individual battery components without shredding them. This has the advantage that the main components are separated right from the start and do not mix. In this way, pure material is recovered that can be fed directly back into the cycle.
The quality of the individual components is comparable to that of the original raw materials. The quality, performance and morphology of the materials can be retained without shredding. The battery components recovered through this direct recycling have a high degree of purity and intact microstructural properties, which is essential for the production of new battery cells.
The materials are prepared without chemical and energy-intensive processes. The first cell contains 20 % recycled material. This reduces the need for new materials to 80 %. The next milestones are to increase the proportion of recycled materials in the production of new batteries and to increase battery capacity.
The KYBURZ process for the environmentally friendly dismantling of used lithium-ion batteries into pure raw materials is revolutionary and has the potential to shake up the industry.
The "Environmental Achievement of the Year" category annually recognises a postal company or supplier that has invested in the development of environmentally friendly solutions and initiatives from which the entire industry can learn. The "Parcel and Postal Technology International Awards" are presented at Parcel+PostExpo by the founder of the trade fair, Tony Robinson.
The head of KYBURZ Battery Recycling, Oliver Groux, accepted the award in Amsterdam. CEO Martin Kyburz and Jasmin Giger, Head of Marketing, were delighted to join him on stage.
