A day in the life of Ben Daniels
Erza Mehmeti: How long have you been with KYBURZ?
Ben Daniels: I have been with KYBURZ since September 2019.
Erza: What are your activities?
Ben: I work in the Fleet Management team as a software developer. I mainly deal with the frontend (backend = what happens in the background, frontend = what you see). My activities consist of developing new features or extending existing ones.
Erza: What is your typical daily routine?
Ben: We have a project management tool where all the tasks that need to be done are recorded. These tasks are divided among all developers and are processed according to priority. Every morning we have a meeting with all the developers where we are briefly updated on who is doing what exactly. The rest of the day, I'm busy with programming and exchange ideas with the other developers from time to time.
Erza: What do you like? What do you like less?
Ben: I like the home office that we have at the moment due to the current situation, but I'm still glad that we have team meetings all the time. We use modern technologies, which interests me a lot. Projects we have are diverse, and so it never gets boring. There is nothing that I don't like in my work.
Erza: What do you like to do in your free time?
Ben: In my free time I like to go skiing in winter and in summer I like to go to the lake with my friends. Since I live right on Lake Walen, I'm often at the lake, whether it's swimming, barbecuing, or actually on the lake with my little 8 hp boat, or on a colleague's boat where we can wake surf. One goal from this year is to take the fishing + boating exam. Actually, I wanted to do this exam already last year, but because of Corona, it was unfortunately postponed.
I am also in a band and play guitar. Our band is called Deadly Jesters, and we play rock and punk. On average, we have 3 concerts a year, but not since last year because of Corona. I also like to do the programming sometimes in my spare time.
