Photo of the week: Snow chains for the DXP
Encountered in Arosa: A Swiss Post DXP with snow chains.
The postwoman is happy, because thanks to the snow chains she can reach any delivery destination effortlessly, even in wintry conditions.
The eRod is a scientific and research object in Belgium
Siemens Belgium has developed a tool for battery design in electric vehicles. On a new homepage, Siemens not only shows these tools, but also provides a cool application: Anyone can use their mobile phone to place their Simrod (as the eRod is called at Siemens) in the desired environment: In the office or, for a better introduction, in the car park at home. (Access via QR code)
The KU Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit) in Flanders is 600 years old this year and was honoured by Reuters as the ‘most innovative university in Europe’. On ‘Science Day’, visitors can see how a hurricane is formed or how a car is built. Local television reported on the event and also put the eRod in the best light.
Two KYBURZ DXS driving in Vauffelin
In Vauffelin, north of Biel, the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) and the Dynamic Testing Centre (DTC) are engaged in a successful collaboration between industry and the university. The DTC carries out developments, tests, investigations and training in the areas of vehicle and aircraft safety and accident analysis.
For the BFH, Vauffelin is the location for the practice-oriented part of the automotive engineering degree programme.
KYBURZ has worked successfully with the DTC and BFH on several occasions in the past. The employees are very familiar with the vehicles from past project work and tests carried out in Vauffelin with KYBURZ vehicles.
Shortly before Christmas, a delegation from KYBURZ visited the company in Vauffelin and handed over two DXS 2ndLife vehicles for internal transport on the large site.
KYBURZ is looking forward to further joint projects and wishes you a safe journey at all times!
Large article about CityLogistik in Parcel & Postal Technology International
The December issue of the industry magazine ‘Parcel & Postal Technology International’ published a five-page, richly illustrated article about Planzer/Loxo's CityLogistics concept with KYBURZ vehicles. Following the printed edition, the digital version is now also freely available online.
The project is attracting considerable international interest. The industry has been discussing the topic of ‘MicroHub’ for some time. The fact that a project is now entering a two-year test phase and integrating autonomous driving is attracting attention. The KYBURZ vehicles with swap boxes for the last mile are very much in evidence in the pictures.
60 years Martin Kyburz
Martin Kyburz celebrated his 60th birthday privately this past weekend.
On Monday morning, KYBURZ employees surprised him with a decorated cake and a photo album full of memories from the last ten years. Martin Kyburz was particularly pleased with the little DXP modelled out of fondant on the cake.
The photo album not only contains photos and signatures from all the employees, but also significant milestones in the development of his life's work at KYBURZ to date.
By the way: The milestones of the last 30 years of KYBURZ Switzerland AG can be read in the chronicle in both German and English.
New employee: Lucas Abeni
Lucas Abeni is now packing the parcels in the KYBURZ webshop. He also makes sure that the accessories and spare parts are easy to find and readily available. The trained farmer has already worked in a similar role at another company.
Lucas' great passion is floorball! He played for Chur in the NLA. He later gained a diploma in competitive sports and now coaches the U21 women of the Kloten-Dietlikon Jets. KYBURZ wishes him a good start!
KYBURZ wishes Martin Jerg ‘All the best’
Eleven years ago, Martin joined us after more than 20 years in the air force to take over the management of the service department – a responsible role in which he was responsible for the safe operation of all our sold vehicles. Under his leadership, not only were over 6,000 vehicles looked after and a network of 65 service partners coordinated, but he also formed the 25-strong service team into the most punctual department in the company. This success earned the team an excellent reputation and sustainably strengthened our customers' trust.
The legendary annual team dinner at Martin's home is also particularly memorable, and has always been a great opportunity to celebrate team spirit.
Over the years, Martin took over as head of sales and used the knowledge and experience he had gained during his previous career to strengthen and improve this area of the company. He then had even more direct contact with our customers and accompanied our largest partners during the introduction of our electric vehicles.
Throughout the years, Martin has always impressed with his open and honest manner. His diplomatic skills and sociable nature were as well known in the company as his expertise and commitment.
Martin was invited to a pizza dinner to mark his departure. He was given a warm send-off and a gift consisting of fine wine, a photo album with memories of the past years and good wishes from the entire team.
KYBURZ would like to express its sincere thanks for his commitment and hard work and wishes him all the best and much success in his future professional and personal endeavours!
A Day in the Life of Havin Öztürk
Kaito: How long have you been at KYBURZ?
Havin: I have been at KYBURZ since 19 August 2024.
Kaito: What is your role?
Havin: I started my commercial apprenticeship in the summer and I am currently working in-house. My tasks include processing incoming orders and recording details of interested parties, to whom I also send brochures. I also check the vehicles before delivery to ensure that all quality standards are met. Another area of responsibility is invoicing for the vehicles we sell and sending out the test drive day flyers. In addition, I make sure that sufficient office supplies are available and regularly check whether there are enough operating instructions for our vehicles that are still to be delivered.
In the office, I also make sure that our letters are not only correctly stamped, but also sent reliably and on time. In the near future, I will also take incoming calls from customers and forward them accordingly.
Kaito: What motivated you to work at KYBURZ? And how does this job differ from your experiences in other internships?
Havin: What motivated me to work here was the wide range of opportunities to gain insights into different departments and to gain valuable experience. During my taster apprenticeships in the banking and insurance industry, I was also able to gain interesting insights, but I found the MEM industry to be far more instructive and varied.
Kaito: Which task during your week did you find most exciting and why did it stand out for you?
Havin: I find it particularly exciting to process orders because I can use and demonstrate my skills in a targeted way.
I find working with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office to be extremely interesting, as are the processes of redeeming or cancelling ID documents and requesting duplicates. These tasks allow me to take on responsibility and develop my organisational and communication skills in a targeted way.
Kaito: Is there a school subject that you particularly enjoy or are good at?
Havin: I particularly enjoy the subject IKA (Information, Communication, Administration). I am very good at this subject and am learning how to use the most important office programmes on the PC. These programmes are not only part of my daily work, but are also extremely useful in my free time.
Kaito: Is there a department you are particularly looking forward to getting to know, and what knowledge do you want to contribute to the team there?
Havin: I am particularly looking forward to the service administration department, because I will be able to gain a deeper insight into the processes involved in repairing vehicles. Although I already have experience in dealing with customers from the office, I am particularly interested in how the processes work in the event of an accident, especially in connection with insurance issues and liability regulations.
Kaito: Is there a goal you definitely want to achieve in the next few years?
Havin: My goal for the next few years is to successfully complete my apprenticeship. I also want to take my driving test.
Kaito: Which KYBURZ three-/four-wheeler stands out for you, and what do you like about it?
Havin: The DX2 is perfect for the warmer seasons, while the PLUS II is ideal for the colder months. I often ride both models during my lunch break and particularly appreciate their versatility and reliability. I also like the DXP, because in contrast to the PLUS II, it is also available in the 45 km/h category.
