A day in the life of Willy Federer
Erza Mehmeti: How long have you been with KYBURZ?
Willy Federer: I have only been with KYBURZ since 1 September 2020.
Erza: What are your activities?
Willy: As a technical editor in the service department, I create service manuals, videos and, if necessary, support the development department and others who also create manuals.
I work 80% here and 20% at Drogovita GmbH, for whom I am currently renovating a flat in Nesslau.
Erza: What is your typical daily routine?
Willy: I start work on the train shortly before 7 am and then arrive at the office at around 8 am. At the moment I am working on the service folder for the eTrolley and PAH-W. These longer-term tasks are interrupted by smaller or bigger jobs that need to be done more urgently. At lunchtime I go for a walk and eat at a nice place. Around 6 p.m. I am back in Wittenbach, do the shopping and then prepare a simple dinner for the family at home.
Erza: What do you like? What not so much?
Willy: In general, I love my work here and the team. The courage and energy with the associated innovative power of Martin Kyburz and all the employees is really extraordinary and a great motivating factor. This also always provides material for new instructions.
Even if I don't have any capacity to spare at the moment, it would be great if the effort for new manuals were more in our hands instead of in the development department and if they were given more time.
In the meantime, I understand why many things are the way they are and would hardly change anything - with the exception of the 2 weeks of company holidays in winter. Those are difficult with children.
Erza: What do you like to do in your free time?
Willy: We have a rustico in Ticino. We are often there on weekends, enjoying family time and renovating. My great passion is my mountain bike, to which I attach a race number from time to time to put some energy back into it. In winter I usually build a piece of furniture and then there is an old Lotus in the garage which is being completely restored.
