Passion for textile work

Former circus tents become bags and stools. The Avantex company in Trimbach near Olten turns circus tents into bags, sews high-temperature insulation for aircraft engines, and supplies canopies and tarpaulins for KYBURZ Switzerland's postal vehicles.

A thriving textile company in Switzerland? It exists, and the variety at Avantex is remarkable! Luggage sets for recruits, protective vests for the police, train conductor bags for railroad companies, and all kinds of bags and sacks. "We make everything that can be seen in the industrial sector," says Daniel Hirschi, managing director of Avantex. This includes high-temperature insulation for fire protection in aircraft or splash protection for welding.

After being cut to size, the sheets have the Post logo welded onto them.

Success that motivates

In the bright rooms of the company, sewing, welding, cutting, riveting, in short: all techniques for processing textiles are used. "It takes passion for our work, with it comes success, which motivates us," Daniel Hirschi expresses in one sentence what can be felt. Some employees think for themselves, are interested and open to new things, because there is no training.

"There are always new, advanced technologies and materials," describes Hirschi, the developments in the industry. KYBURZ also benefits from his knowledge. The canopies on the patented boxes of the postal vehicles come from Trimbach; as do the tarpaulins stretched over the trailer. A large automatic cutting machine brings the coated fabrics into the right shape, and the Swiss Post logo is welded on before sewing. Every move of the concentrated employees is perfect, particularly noticeable when the products are equipped with buckles, hooks, belts, and straps.

Versatile orders

The collaboration between contract manufacturer Avantex and KYBURZ Switzerland came about via an industrial designer. "These are versatile and strategic orders for us, where we can co-develop and apply all our knowledge," says Daniel Hirschi, describing the contact and emphasizing, "We produce interesting products for KYBURZ, and we both speak the same direct language."
