A Day in the Life of Kirill Stepin
Kaito: How long have you been at KYBURZ?
Kirill: I have been at KYBURZ since 19 August 2024.
Kaito: What are your responsibilities?
Kirill: I'm a first-year commercial apprentice and I'm currently working in the web shop as my first area. My main tasks include maintaining customer contact, entering orders in the system and preparing and packing orders for dispatch.
Kaito: What motivated you to work at KYBURZ? And how does this job differ from your experiences in other work placements?
Kirill: Since I like riding motorbikes, I specifically prioritised the automotive industry. At KYBURZ, I was immediately impressed by the vehicles, and I particularly liked the variety during my taster days in two departments (office work & purchasing) – something I have often missed in other places. Compared to apprenticeships as a dental technician, veterinary practice assistant or carpenter, the commercial training here seemed to make the most sense to me.
Kaito: What task during your week do you find most exciting and why does it stand out for you?
Kirill: I find processing international shipments the most exciting because they are more complex and demanding compared to domestic deliveries. It is especially important to provide accurate weight and dimensional information, use the correct customs tariff numbers, and comply with the specific shipping guidelines of each country. These tasks require a great deal of care, which helps me to gain a better understanding of international processes.
Kaito: If you could incorporate a skill from a completely different industry into your job, what would it be and why?
Kirill: I lack the ability to speak French fluently. This would make it much easier for me to communicate with customers from French-speaking Switzerland and significantly improve our collaboration.
Kaito: Is there a school subject that you particularly enjoy or are good at?
Kirill: I particularly enjoy the subject IKA, which stands for information technology, communication and administration. I am very good at this subject and am learning how to use the most important office programmes on the PC. I particularly appreciate the strong practical relevance to my work, which makes this subject particularly exciting and relevant for me.
Kaito: Is there a department whose insights and workflows you are particularly looking forward to? What interests you most about it, and what knowledge do you want to contribute to the team there?
Kirill: I am particularly looking forward to working in the service department because I would like to learn more about the vehicles. Thanks to my current time in the web shop, I already have a lot of knowledge about spare parts and working with service partners, which I can put to good use there.
Kaito: Can you share a personal hobby or passion that you think contributes to your working life?
Kirill: In my free time, I regularly do sports to stay fit and balanced. I also meet up with my friends weekly to ride our motorbikes. In my creative time, I draw graffiti, both digitally and on paper.
Kaito: Is there a goal you definitely want to achieve in the next few years?
Kirill: My long-term goal is to successfully complete my apprenticeship. I would also like to take a trip to Sweden with my friends. We are fascinated by the nature there, especially the impressive forests and huge lakes, and we would like to explore the peace and beauty of the country.
Kaito: Which KYBURZ three-/four-wheeler stands out for you in particular, and what do you like about it?
Kirill: I like the DXP ‘DonToni’ the most, which is available to us as an internal vehicle at the webshop. It offers a large loading area, which is particularly useful for short distances from area to area. The PLUS II, on the other hand, enables dry and safe driving, which would be my choice on rainy days.
