Interview with Hugo Jakob

Hugo Jakob has been working for Swiss Post for almost 37 years and has been with Post Company Cars AG (until 2017 Mobility Solutions AG) since 2006 and is also the main contact person for matters relating to Swiss Post vehicles. I asked him a few questions about his long career at Post Company Cars AG and our collaboration.

Rina Suka: What are your tasks at Post Company Cars AG?

Hugo Jakob: As customer and partner manager, I work with my six colleagues to look after our customers and the entire partner garage network in all matters relating to mobility. I do this in the field directly on site.

Rina Suka: How did you come across Post Company Cars AG around 37 years ago and what convinced you to want to work here? Are there certain aspects of your work or the company that you particularly appreciate?

Hugo Jakob: Almost 37 years ago, I started working for Swiss Post as a garage employee. Later, I managed the Post Garage in Balsthal and Aarau as Garage Manager. In 2006, the last Post Garage was closed and Mobility Solutions AG was founded at the same time. From then on, Mobility Solutions AG was the mobility manager for Swiss Post. My first job at Mobility Solutions AG was to help set up and implement a garage partner network, both for two-wheelers (later three-wheelers) and for Swiss Post's four-wheeled vehicles.

In the meantime, Mobility Solutions AG became Post Company Cars AG. This increased the focus on the third-party market and thus on acquiring business customers. The success of this strategy has proved it right and the many customers we now have make our work even more varied.

Rina Suka: Your professional strengths are certainly crucial to your success. What do you see as your particular strengths?

Hugo Jakob: Certainly my many years of experience in the garage business, as well as my solution-orientated approach to a task. I also have negotiating skills, perseverance, persistence and a customer-orientated approach.

Rina Suka: Can you name a particularly memorable experience that characterised you during your long career at Post Company Cars AG in connection with KYBURZ?

Hugo Jakob: As one of the first people involved in the introduction of KYBURZ vehicles (DXP/PAH) at Swiss Post in 2010/2011, I did have some memorable experiences with KYBURZ. In this context, we were also able to help further develop the vehicles and identify and achieve improvements. One example is the realisation that the green drive shafts are not suitable for practical use and are too weak for use by Swiss Post. After we received confirmation of this at the DTC in Vauffelin, the KYBURZ company also realised this and all green drive shafts were replaced with the reinforced blue drive shaft.

Rina Suka: How do you feel about our collaboration? What are you looking forward to in our future collaboration?

Hugo Jakob: As you described above, our collaboration has always been objective, fair and solution-orientated. This has not changed with the change of our contact person from Martin Jerg to Flurin Vicentini
