Arnold Schwarzenegger celebrates CO2-free deliveries in Vienna
Österreichische Post AG has switched its delivery service in Vienna entirely to electric vehicles and the muscle power of its postmen. This makes Vienna the largest city in Europe where last-mile postal deliveries are quiet and completely emission-free.
On Heldenplatz in Vienna, Vienna’s City Councillor for Climate Action Jürgen Czernohorszky, Austrian Post CEO Walter Oblin and Minister for Economic Affairs Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer posed together, beaming against the sun. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former Hollywood actor and ex-Governor of California, presided over the ceremonial kick-off.
The high-profile guest also took the time to pose for a selfie in front of the KYBURZ DXP. In total, over 1,300 delivery staff are now on duty in Vienna every day – on foot, by e-bike, e-moped or e-van – covering around eight million kilometres a year using purely electric power.
Austrian Post has already set its sights on the next target: by 2030, all last-mile deliveries in Austria are to be carried out exclusively by electric vehicles or on foot. KYBURZ Switzerland is happy to assist with the delivery of further vehicles and would like to thank Austrian Post for the trust placed in us so far.
