A day in the life of Oliver Fontana
Erza Mehmeti: How long have you been with KYBURZ?
Oliver Fontana: I have been with KYBURZ since November 2019.
Erza: How did you hear about us?
Oliver: I already knew the KYBURZ company and especially Martin Kyburz through my work as a manager in the model aircraft specialist shop. In a way, I was Martin Kyburz's "drone dealer". When I wanted to reorient myself professionally after selling the business, I asked Martin if he could still use someone spontaneously.
Erza: What did you do before KYBURZ?
Oliver: I was a sales manager for a construction machinery company for about 2 years. Before that, I was COO of the largest specialist shop for electric model aircraft in Switzerland for over 8 years.
Erza: What are your activities?
Oliver: At KYBURZ I am the technical editor in the service department, responsible for creating and maintaining user manuals, repair manuals and service folders for the KYBURZ vehicles, the monthly Tech Info for the service partners, etc.
Since the beginning of the year, I have also been responsible for the cool wooden e-bikes from My Esel. I am currently helping out in the purchasing department in Embrach.
Erza: What are your strengths?
Oliver: My open and honest way of dealing with people is what makes me stand out, so they say. I would say my calm, balanced manner and my positive attitude towards new things are just as much a part of it as networked thinking and acting.
Erza: What motivates you?
Oliver: It's often the small successes, such as good conversations or interesting encounters. For me, they are balm for the soul, especially when things are sometimes a bit difficult all around.
I find the internal opportunities to learn new things and develop my own projects absolutely brilliant and that motivates me a lot. Somewhat demotivating for me, on the other hand, are infinitely complicated and confusing processes that you can neither influence nor correct.
Erza: What is your typical daily routine?
Oliver: I don't really have a typical daily routine at the moment. My tasks in the Tech. Documentation have been taken over by my colleague Willy Federer.
In Purchasing, I learn something new every day, which I find very exciting. I'm currently taking care of the internal material orders. On the side, I also take care of everything that has to do with the e-bikes from
My Donkey e-bikes.
Erza: What do you like? What do you like less?
Oliver: I really like the contact with the staff, the team is really great!
I think the company has a very special "spirit".
What I don't like so much is that we are currently spread across 3 different locations. That makes communication quite complicated at times and you often lose valuable time.
But that will be improved in the future.
Erza: What do you like to do in your free time?
Oliver: My wife and I love to be out in nature together.
We have our caravan on Lenzerheide in summer and winter and spend as much time there as possible. You can find me regularly on the bike trails in the region and of course in Graubünden, because my big hobby is mountain biking. We certainly don't miss out on hiking or skiing in winter either. At home we especially enjoy spending time with our family, friends and our three Maine Coon cats. I like good music and go to a concert from time to time.
Erza: What are your plans for the future?
Oliver: My future plans are relatively straightforward. I certainly want to help and support the company wherever possible and continue to conquer the Swiss market with the e-bikes. I enjoy my work and feel very comfortable at KYBURZ.
