A day in the life of Nicolas Keller
Erza Mehmeti: How long have you been with KYBURZ?
Nicolas Keller: Since December 2022
Erza: How did you hear about us?
Nicolas: I spent the first 11 years of my life on Weissenhaldenstrasse in Rorbas, so I knew KYBURZ from my childhood. But I really became aware of it when my former colleagues from the ZHAW, Daniel Schär and Thomas Baumann, started working here.
Erza: What did you do before KYBURZ?
Nicolas: For the last five years I was a project manager at Wiener Linien in Vienna, where I was responsible for the conversion of diesel buses to battery buses.
Erza: What are your activities?
Nicolas: I am at home at the ELKZ (Electronic Competence Centre) and I am on the road in many different ways. This includes support for the service partners, being the contact point for internal production in case of problems and examining returned material. I also support the team with new developments.
Erza: What are your strengths?
Nicolas: As a mechatronics engineer, I can do everything, but nothing really. In a team, I see myself as a bridge builder and thus close the gap that can arise between an electronics technician and a mechanic, for example.
Erza: What motivates you?
Nicolas: To see a deeper meaning in my work. Issues like sustainability and environmental protection are important cornerstones of my life. Providing sustainable mobility absolutely fulfils this criterion.
Erza: What is your typical daily routine?
Nicolas: I go over my mails & tasks and set myself a daily goal/plan. Since I'm at work early, I often use this quiet time to do activities that require a lot of attention.
Erza: What do you like? What do you like less?
Nicolas: My daily work is incredibly varied and exciting. My colleagues are very appreciative and empathetic towards each other, both of which I enjoy very much. It is clearly noticeable that the company has grown rapidly. Some processes are not yet sufficiently defined/structured and sometimes unnecessary mistakes occur.
Erza: What do you like to do in your free time?
Nicolas: Friends, family and sports are fixed components of my free time. It is also very characteristic of me that I am always immersed in some topic or project. For example, I recently got involved with coffee and latte art.
Erza: What are your plans for the future?
Nicolas: After my five-year stay abroad, I'm very busy right now rebuilding my life here. So at the moment I'm just taking the future as it comes.
