A day in the life of Polina Fedorenko
Rina Suka: How long have you been working at KYBURZ?
Polina Fedorenko: I worked remotely as a software developer from Russia for 2 years. The company is called 7bits and it’s working for other KYBURZ projects like Fleet Management. I was one oft he extern developper working on fleet and got offered to move here to Switzerland and work with the team fleet and directly with KYBURZ. I have been working in Switzerland for nearly 1 year so altogether I have been working for KYBURZ nearly 3 years.
Rina: What did you do before Kyburz?
Polina: Before Kyburz I was working in oursoursing company in Russia, and before I was studying applied mathematics at Omsk State University.
Rina: What are your activities?
Polina: On a project I started working as a frontend developer (worked on user interface), then switched to backend (handling of data, background logic), and now I'm doing mostly backend and leading the development team.
Rina: What are your strengths?
Polina: I guess my strength is that I can cover almost each part of the development process because I have experience in frontend, backend, and project management.
Rina: What motivates you?
Polina: Making life of people easier. For example, when I see how people switch from paper work, and can automate their processes with our product, that really motivates me to do it better and more functional.
Rina: What is your typical daily routine?
Polina: When I arrive in the office I check the mails and questions from 7bits developers, because they start working earlier than we do. Then I have a daily meeting with development team, where we talk about our progress and our priorities and goals. After the Znüni break I work on my tasks according to priorities.
Rina: What do you like? What do you like less?
Polina: I like my speciality in general, that's why doing my work makes me happy. And I love my team and working from office to see them and communicate.
Rina: What do you like to do in your free time?
Polina: At the moment integrating to Switzerland like learning German, finding new people and joining some clubs and in general I like doing sports, reading science fiction and building LEGO.
Rina: What are your plans for the future?
Polina: Last years were hard because of situation in Russia and i couldn't do long term plans, so I'm still living with a feeling that next day everything can turn upside down so I'm trying to enjoy the moment.
But realistic plans are to keep integrating in Switzerland, learn the German language and keep developing professionally.
