A day in the life of Diana Mendes
Rina Suka: How long have you been with KYBURZ?
Diana Mendes: I have been working at KYBURZ Switzerland AG since October 2023.
Rina: How did you hear about us?
Diana: I became aware of KYBURZ through an online job portal and then applied.
Rina: What did you do before KYBURZ?
Diana: I worked at VoiceInteraction. My main task there was to redesign the 6 products (in the form of web applications) that the company maintained. As they were trying to improve their branding, new visual elements and "feels" for the products were their top priority. So I was part of a small team that developed the new applications from scratch - and even had my own product that I was responsible for.
Rina: What do you do?
Diana: I work in Fleet Management at KYBURZ. My main activities include improvements to our Fleet Management web app (bug fixes), some code refactoring, implementation of new features and some additions to the visual presentation of our app.
Rina: What are your strengths?
Diana: I think my greatest strength is that I dedicate myself 100% to a task and only finish it when I am completely satisfied with my solution.
Rina: What motivates you?
Diana: I am motivated by the green footprint of our company: the sustainable vehicles, the recycling of batteries and the fact that I can take my dogs to work with me.
Rina: What does your typical day look like?
Diana: I have to start the day with black tea. Then it's about fixing bugs, implementing features, revising code and suggesting new ideas for the design of our app. This means that I work a lot with the other developers and our UX/UI designer, which I really enjoy.
Rina: What do you like? What do you like less?
Diana: I like my team and the feeling I get from our office and the setup in general. However, I need to improve my German language skills, because when someone around me starts speaking completely in German, I unfortunately feel a bit "left behind".
Rina: What do you like to do in your free time?
Diana: When I was still living in Portugal, I often went surfing. Now I regularly go for walks with my two dogs, read, listen to music, watch anime series, visit new places in Switzerland or go for a drink with friends who also live here.
Rina: What are your plans for the future?
Diana: My plans are to broaden and deepen my professional experience and to learn German better. I would also like to go to a gym. Another plan is to travel to other countries - one of my biggest dreams is to visit Japan.
