A day in the life of Joshua Huston
Rina Suka: How long have you been with KYBURZ Switzerland AG?
Joshua Huston: I have been with KYBURZ Switzerland AG since August 2019 and have been Managing Director of the Australian subsidiary KYBURZ Electric Vehicles in Melbourne for over 3 years.
Rina: What does your daily routine look like? What is special about your daily routine in Australia?
Joshua: My daily routine starts with getting an overview of my email traffic and prioritising my daily tasks. This also includes conversations with each team member. This is followed by solving the "crisis of the day", making phone calls to service partners or the post office, planning or maintaining new and open projects, providing technical support, financial control and taking time for supply chain planning. I also spend around 20 weeks a year travelling to train service partners and carry out technical inspections if necessary.
The time difference between Australia and Switzerland is something special for us. Our week starts on Sunday evening in Switzerland. When we finish work, the day at KYBURZ Switzerland is just beginning. It sometimes feels like a 24-hour business between KYBURZ Australia and KYBURZ Switzerland.
Rina: Our electric vehicles have many unique features. What fascinates you personally the most?
Joshua: I have always been interested in technology in general and appreciate the very robust, easy to maintain and simple design of our vehicles. I like the creativity that goes into our designs.
Rina: What is your personal long-term goal for KYBURZ? Looking to the future of KYBURZ - which markets or regions do you see as particularly promising for the company's growth?
Joshua: I see potential for private distribution in Australia and for postal and private distribution in North America. I could also see KYBURZ entering the residential solar energy business.
Rina: Your professional strengths are certainly crucial to your success. What do you see as your particular strengths?
Joshua: Self-management, dedication, teamwork and my perseverance have helped me to achieve our goals.
Rina: Beyond business, how do you organise your free time?
Joshua: I almost always spend my free time with my family. We like to do lots of outdoor activities, e.g. swimming, hiking, taking the kids to the playground, not forgetting the barbecue.
Rina: What are your plans for the future?
Joshua: After four and a half years in Australia, my family and I will be returning to Switzerland in 2024. I'm looking forward to continuing our exciting collaboration with KYBURZ Switzerland.
