A day in the life of Jan Mehlin
Rina Suka: How long have you been with KYBURZ?
Jan Mehlin: I've been part of the team at KYBURZ Switzerland AG since February 2024.
Rina: How did you hear about us?
Jan: I came across a job advertisement on Job.ch. However, I was already familiar with KYBURZ, especially through my many years of working at Diener AG in Embrach, where I regularly saw the post vehicles and often had conversations about them.
Rina: What did you do before KYBURZ?
Jan: My professional career spans more than three decades, including more than 20 years in various areas of quality assurance (QA), where I have also repeatedly held management positions since 2005.
Rina: What are your activities?
Jan: My main tasks include checking incoming goods, testing characteristics and first article inspections. During production, I monitor quality with spot checks to ensure faultless vehicles and our very good quality. Error management is also crucial, as we record errors, determine their causes and take measures to avoid them in the future - both at our suppliers and internally.
Rina: What are your strengths?
Jan: I am a calm and pragmatic person who analyses a lot of things at work. My many years of experience certainly help to create a structured working environment.
Rina: What motivates you?
Jan: I'm motivated by the variety of my day-to-day work, as there are new challenges every day. It also motivates me to help all areas - not just production, but also other departments.
Rina: What is your typical daily routine?
Jan: My working day usually starts at 7.30 am. First, I get an overview of my emails, prioritise them and take care of any pending tasks. I check incoming goods, organise production control and take care of outstanding organisational matters.
Rina: What do you like? What do you like less?
Jan: I particularly like the open communication and the mutual trust. I'm looking forward to bringing all the departments together in our new building in Embrach in 2025.
Rina: What do you like to do in your free time?
Jan: I love travelling in my free time. Mallorca and Gran Canaria in particular attract me. I also enjoy short trips to Italy and discovering beautiful new places.
Rina: What are your plans for the future?
Jan: I'm open to new things and like to be surprised. I'm looking forward to our new location in 2025 and to experiencing and helping to shape the visions of KYBURZ AG.
