Support for students: KYBURZ sponsors racing car design competition
The competition comprises two disciplines: a static one, in which the design of the vehicle and the engineering services rendered must be submitted, as well as a business plan and a cost analysis. In the second, the dynamic discipline, the vehicle is put through its paces on a handling course with straight lines, hairpin bends and slalom tracks. A distinction is made between the combustion engine category and the electric motor category. The Formula Student has over 700 teams worldwide.
Berne Formula Student
In 2014, two automotive engineering students from the University of Applied Sciences Berne (BFS), from the Department of Engineering and Computer Science, founded the Berne Formula Student. It is one of the two Swiss teams in the electric motor category. The Berne team has 35 active members from the FSO's mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and automotive engineering departments. CEO Duga Hoti: "This is value-based cooperation. During one year the students developed and built their own electric racing car to take part in the competition in Hungary. Participating in this interdisciplinary project allows them to gain extensive professional experience - a good preparation for their future career. In the 2015/16 season, they achieved two fourth places in the design and cost analysis competition in Italy and another fourth place in the business plan in Hungary.

This cooperation enables an exchange of knowledge regarding the new technologies used at the BFS within the framework of automotive development. The students benefit from KYBURZ's extensive and long-standing experience in the development of electric vehicles and can at the same time establish initial contacts with the industry.
