Delivery of the solar ice cream "BB" to Basel

Another trade fair was coming up. We had to bring the first baby buggy to Basel: The Frisco company was expecting it at their stand. Again, we worked through the day and night. The buggy was finished and so were we. We were all completely overtired. The fittest of us was Tina and she agreed to bring the Solar Ice Buggy to Basel with the trailer. We were more than happy to have found a solution. Only too well remembered were the deliveries to Geneva for the Auto Salon and before that the delivery of the Solar-Eis to Zurich - always in an overtired state.
To be on the safe side, I gave Tina my mobile phone. We only had one in the company at the time. Mobile phones were a precious commodity. Tina took it with her, but still told me that she couldn't operate it, that my explanation had confused her.
About three hours later our house phone rang. Tina was on the line: she had had an accident on her way back. She had run off the road. We all jumped into the car, hitched our trailer to the car and drove off to the spot Tina had given us. Fortunately, no one was injured. Her car and trailer were in the ditch and badly damaged. Her dog was shaking and she herself was very sad about the damage. I took her in my arms and comforted her: she had delivered the ice bar and the customer was satisfied. With the many kilometres she had already covered in the car, this was her first accident. Things like that could happen. As quickly as we could, we loaded the battered car including the trailer onto our trailer and headed back. One of the workers lent us his car for the next few days. Another employee looked for a new second-hand car for us. Only a few days later, everything was back to normal - almost everything: For the first time, I had the feeling that I had gone too far. I had endangered my wife's life through my poor time management. From then on, our dog was also no longer so trusting when we drove around in the car

I learned:
- If the pressure gets too high, the weakest in the bunch pay the bill.
- The art is to go far without going too far.
